yes why does the thought fill with you with dread? you should probably try to figure that out. The other question you should ask is if it does fill you with dread then why keep going?
Why do you think that the diocese has abandoned R****d? What I can't understand is why it matters to us what the diocese thinks - has God abandoned us? where are the sermons of the fact that life as christian isn't easy - that there are times that make no sense form our perspective but maybe they will one day? Who do you think makes up the diocese?
presumably you ment hope "in" a hopless situation not "for... again yes why do we? it's not hopeless - do you really think that they are going to close us?
depressed by it all, try being one of the leaders!
Try feeling responsible .... sorry you and all the rest of us are responsible for the church it is made up of us.
depression is often supression of emotion in our case anger. Why not write to the diocese and ask them why they have abandoned us ?
what really worries me is that we are all reallyangry and can no-longer discuss this without getting angry with each other - and I don't know how that will change!
I so think (at the moment) that we will grow so small that they will say they have to close us.
I keep going because that's what being faithful means. Although I haven't had the energy in recent weeks and have stayed away.
The hierarchy has abandoned us, otherwise they would be rolling up their sleeves and actively doing something about the situation.
Church at the moment doesn't feed me and there is no pastoral support.
